Rugby Dads tackle slippery challenge - Cuddledry kicks bathtime into touch
There’s nothing soft about bathing your baby – that’s the message from a bunch of Rugby bruisers, including World Cup winner Steve Thompson, pictured here using the new Cuddledry towel.
The makers of Cuddledry, the innovative new towel for drying babies in safety and comfort, have teamed up with the sporting stars to highlight the important role dads can play at bath-time.
Research suggests that children who are regularly bathed by their fathers during the first year are less likely to have behavioural problems in later life, and bathing is recommended by midwives and health visitors as an ideal way for fathers to bond with their babies. A recent survey of 4000 parents shows that ‘daddy’ is now involved at bathtime in 80% of UK homes.
But even for dads with hands as safe as England hooker Steve Thompson and his team-mates, bathing a newborn can be a daunting prospect. A slippery, wet baby can be even more difficult to keep hold of than a rugby ball on a rainy Saturday afternoon – not to mention much more precious. That’s why Cuddledry has been designed to take the stress out of bath-time, leaving dad and baby free to have fun.
“Many parents experience anxiety about dropping their newborn baby, particularly at bath-time,” explained Cuddledry’s Polly Marsh. “Even professional sportsmen with exceptional hand eye co-ordination can get the jitters when they have that precious bundle of joy in their hands for the first time. Cuddledry takes the tension out of bath-time, meaning dads can enjoy valuable time with their children without having to worry.”
