Has your little one ever had problems getting to sleep? Silly question…

Well today we have a prize that just might help. These cute bunny baby comforters from Sleepytot are designed not just to be a soother in themselves, but also to keep your baby’s dummy safe in its paws, so they can find them easily in the night.

Dummies are a funny thing aren’t they? When I was pregnant I remember saying ‘my baby is never going to have a dummy’, and then faced with a screaming baby in the middle of the night, it’s a different story entirely!

If your baby doesn’t use a dummy, these Sleepytot bunnies still make lovely toys, and they can use their Velcro paws to cling onto the side of the cot instead! We have two to give away, so two lucky potential winners today. To enter, leave us a comment, telling us one thing that you never thought you’d do as a parent – chocolate buttons for breakfast, back-to-back cbeebies? You can tell us, we won’t judge! (My youngest’s first food was nutella after all.)

Fancy an extra chance to win? Every time you share this post, we’ll pop an extra entry into our prize hat for you. We’ve got some little buttons for you so it’s dead easy…

Good luck!

Yesterday’s winner was Arabella Bazley – congratulations Arabella! Read the full competition rules here.

Today’s post is from Charlotte, Mum of 3 and Director of Not Just Another Baby

In the last few weeks of pregnancy most of us are so eager not to be pregnant anymore that we spend hours fantasising about our former body (or at least an idealised recollection) and how it will feel to have it back again.

Everyone generally has a post-pregnancy pair of jeans that they cannot wait to get back into. You look at them with longing (especially the bum) thinking how wonderful it will be when you shimmy yourself back into your old favourites.

You weren’t too indulgent during your pregnancy and everyone keeps telling you how amazing you look, besides it will be so liberating not to be carrying another human being around that it won’t take long to get your energy levels up and you will make the most of your maternity leave by exercising at least twice a week – it will take no time at all to get your body back, in fact it will be even better than before! Today we are going all literary. Well, it’s a poem at least… Our very own Polly wrote this for her friend Vics when she was expecting her first baby – and she has kindly shared it here. We love it!

Words of Wisdom for Vics

You got through the sex part
(no drama for Vics)
All that counting your cycle
Peeing on sticks

Then comes the sickness
Each morning YOU HURL
And the aches and the pains
And exhaustion – you GIRL!

Today’s guest post comes from Kelly Brett, blogger at Writings, Ramblings and Reviews, and founder of Piddley Pix

When it comes to pregnancy and parenting, breastfeeding is one of the most controversial subjects.I am not sure why, as it is the most natural thing to do, the body was built for it after all. It all starts during pregnancy with the ‘will you?’, which turns to a ‘are you?’ once you have given birth, which turns again to ‘are you still?’ at various stages through the first few months. These questions come from professionals, colleagues, friends and even strangers.

There is masses of advice, guidance and opinions on breastfeeding, how to start, how to continue, why it is good, public or not – but there is one question that is rarely answered. When is the right time to stop?

Becoming a father is a massive life change that can bring with it many new questions and how and what to feed your new baby is one of the most important decisions you will make. When it comes to breastfeeding, dads may be in the dark about the physical and emotional benefits it offers, as well as the practicalities of how it works, and may be left wondering where they fit in.

It’s fair to say that breastfeeding can seem a bit of a one woman show at times. We have yet to evolve to the point where breastfeeding can be shared by fathers and just as this can often be overwhelming for mothers, it can lead to dads feeling left out or second best. This is especially true in the early weeks when your baby seems to do little BUT breastfeed!

Our guest post today is from Holly, blogger at It’s A Mummy’s Life, mother of two girls under three years old and proud owner of one full time job.  She can mostly be seen drinking coffee and trying to keep her eyes open enough to fool her boss that she’s listening to him.  In her ‘spare’ time she plays Princesses and Fairies with her girls.

As a new mother we all have such high expectations, hopes and dreams for our baby and most probably a fairly fixed idea of how we will adapt as mothers.

Some women take to motherhood like babies to explosive nappies, but some are less sure of what to do and search desperately for the ‘how to’ book before realising the baby didn’t come with instructions.  That was me in case you’re wondering.

So here are a few things I wish I’d known then that might have helped make my early months as a mum less stressful.

Don’t they? It’s not just us I’m sure…

Recently, we had an email from a lovely lady called Lorna who wanted to tell us how much her daughter Indigo loves her Cuddledry towel!

“She loves her towel,” Lorna told us, “I get so many comments about it if people are here at bathtime. Our lodger is a midwife and one of her pregnant colleagues just had a baby shower.  As a result of seeing Indigo in her Cuddledry she bought one for her colleague – all the midwives at the Baby Shower were very impressed with the gift so hopefully they’ll pass on the info to new mums in the birthing unit!!”

That’s the kind of email we love getting!

Lorna also very kindly sent us some gorgeous pictures of Indigo enjoying her towel, and is happy for us to share them with you.

Today we have the latest in our series of guest posts from new mum Kayleigh – baby Nathan is two months old now, and growing fast!…

Nathan is now two months old and there are little parts of his personality coming through. He is a very smiley baby and my computer is slowly filling up with a ridiculously large number of pictures. I think my friends are getting tired of the daily picture updates on facebook and statuses telling everyone that Nathan just did a poo or something!

My collection of none-blue baby clothes is growing but so is Nathan! He outgrew his newborn clothes in about a week and is now in 0-3 months. I also received his appointment for his first vaccinations and it feels like a court summons. I am absolutely dreading it, but thankfully Kevin will be there for moral support. Nathan’s cord finally dropped off and his skin isn’t so dry anymore. Sadly we are now fighting a losing battle with cradle cap *disgruntled mumblings*

With the festival season drawing to a close, we couldn’t resist one last weekend away, this time at the new Just So Festival in Staffordshire.

Set in acres of beautiful, ancient woodland, it was the perfect setting for families to get away from everything, and indulge in some quality time with nature. The festival is the first of its kind aimed specifically at young children, so it was a great opportunity for Cuddledry to lend a hand, by providing towels for festival babies to enjoy their evening baths:

Today on the blog – Helen wonders just how to capture those precious baby moments. In papier mache perhaps??

As I spent an hour hairdrying a papier mache earthworm this afternoon (6 year old’s homework – don’t ask) watched by my bemused baby, it suddenly struck me that he is 3 months old already.  Where on earth has that time gone?  I’m sure three months with my first baby felt like three years, but with number three the time has just flown, the piles of outgrown baby clothes mount up, and before I know it he will be on the move and chomping on his first banana.

precious moments

So how do I capture these moments and treasure them?  How can I remember how amazing it feels right now to just put my face to his soft soft cheek, and breathe in his gorgeous baby smell?  I never want to forget but some things just can’t be put in a treasures box, or caught on film.  The magic of his smile and how it can make a sleepless night entirely irrelevant.  The tiny things like the way his whole body moves when he smiles, or the twinkle in his eye when he is enjoying our antics to entertain him.
